Data & Permissions
Mahout combines model reasoning with data tools. Which data it can use depends on current source availability.
Product permission
Mahout has its own product permission, separate from other Airavat products. The permission covers the copilot chat, agents, the code sandbox, and saved artifacts. If you do not see Mahout in the dashboard sidebar, your account has not been enabled for it yet.
Read-only behavior
Mahout’s product surface is read-only. It can analyze and summarize data, but it does not:
- place orders
- move funds
- change wallet settings
- call execution endpoints
The same holds for agents: an agent evaluates its rule and sends an in-app notification when it fires. Agents cannot trade, and a rule that asks for execution is rejected when the agent is compiled.
The only write Mahout performs against your trading products is creating a new Polymarket filter when you ask it to. Filtering is configuration, not execution: it defines which trades or market events you care about and is never used to move money.
If a response appears to imply execution, treat it as research text and contact support.
Data sources
Mahout can use the following sources:
| Source | What it provides |
|---|---|
| Databento | Historical market bars (OHLCV) |
| Binance, Bybit, OKX | Centralized-exchange price history |
| CoinGecko | Crypto prices and market data |
| FRED | Federal Reserve Economic Data series, including historical vintages |
| US Treasury | Fiscal datasets |
| SEC EDGAR | Company filings |
| GDELT | News article search |
| Macro calendar | Scheduled macro releases with point-in-time reconstruction |
| Polymarket (Airavat) | Your Polymarket trading data: top traders, trending markets, market detail, search, and your own fills and positions. Also one-shot coverage estimates for Polymarket filter criteria (pm_filter_estimate) |
Web research
Web research covers exactly two operations:
- News search — Mahout searches GDELT news when your message asks about news, freshness, or current events. There is no general web search.
- URL fetch — paste an
http(s)link into the chat and Mahout fetches and reads that page. Fetching is restricted to public addresses and clips long pages to a short excerpt.
Data-source metadata
Mahout records source metadata so outputs can be audited later.
You may see references to:
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Source name | Where the data came from |
| Provenance | How the output used or derived the data |
| Freshness | When the data was fetched or generated |
Missing or unavailable sources
Mahout may be unable to use a source because:
- the source is temporarily unavailable
- the source returned incomplete data
- the request is outside what the source supports
- a rate, budget, or dependency limit was hit
When this happens, Mahout should explain the unavailable source and continue with available sources where possible.
How to ask for source clarity
Use follow-ups like:
List the data sources used and separate facts from model interpretation. What data was missing or stale in this answer?Redo this using only FRED and Treasury data.Privacy expectations
Do not paste secrets, private keys, passwords, seed phrases, API keys, or sensitive personal information into Mahout.
Mahout is for research and analysis. It is not a vault, wallet, password manager, or private-key handling surface.
