History
The History tab lists your previous Mahout chat sessions. Use it to reopen research threads without starting over.
What a session contains
A session keeps:
- the conversation messages
- the session title
- model and effort metadata
- generated artifact candidates in the chat
- links between saved artifacts and their source chat
Saved artifacts also appear in the Artifacts tab, but the original conversation stays in History.
Reopen a session
- Open Mahout.
- Select the History tab.
- Click the session you want to revisit.
Mahout loads the prior messages and restores the model and effort level saved with that session.
Continue or start fresh
Continue an existing session when your follow-up depends on the same context.
Start a new chat when:
- the asset, market, or event changes
- the time window changes materially
- you want a clean source trail
- you are switching from exploration to final synthesis
- the conversation has become too broad
Clean sessions make saved artifacts easier to audit later.
History and artifacts
Artifacts keep a link back to the source session. From the Artifacts tab, use the source-chat action when you need to inspect the conversation that produced an artifact.
Deleting an artifact does not delete its source chat. Reopening a session does not automatically rerun old artifacts.
Practical tips
- Use one session per research question.
- Rename or structure prompts clearly enough that the session preview is useful later.
- Reopen history for follow-ups, but start a new chat for unrelated questions.
- Save final charts, tables, notes, and backtests as artifacts instead of relying only on chat history.
